Accessibility statement
This page explains how accessible this website is and how to let us know if you run into a problem.
Last updated: 7 October 2026
Our commitment
Afternoon Code wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people with a disability. This statement applies to afternooncode.com, including the customer portal.
Which standard we test against
We test against EN 301 549 v3.2.1, the European standard for digital accessibility. For websites, that standard refers to WCAG 2.1 level AA. We aim for the newer WCAG 2.2 level AA.
Status
This website partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 level AA. This is because of the known limitations below.
Known limitations
In a few places the colour contrast is too low. This can make text hard to read, especially if you have low vision. These are the places:
- In the band on the homepage where you can type a question straight away, white text partly falls over the orange end of the colour gradient.
- The translucent input field in that same band lightens the background, which makes the white text in it harder to read.
- The large heading at the top of the homepage partly sits on the orange of the artwork.
- The body text in the opening block of the homepage has too little contrast with the artwork behind it.
- Links that turn orange when you hover over them with a mouse have too little contrast in small text on the cream background. Without hover they are dark blue and easy to read.
We are working with our designer on a fix.
What we do
During development we build and check the website against WCAG 2.2 AA, in Dutch and in English. Among other things, we pay attention to these points:
- recognisable page regions (landmarks) and headings in a logical order
- a label for every form field
- operation with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus
- content and functions that stay usable on a screen 320 pixels wide
- less motion if you have set that in your system
- decorative icons that screen readers skip
How we assessed this
This statement is based on a self-assessment by our development team.
